is there an easy way to install the kernel, 2.6.0 ? I'd like to keep the old one too
There's stuff in the archives regarding 2.6.0 kernels and /etc/modprobe.conf. I couldn't get /sbin/generate-modprobe.conf to give me a workable one, so I modded the one that was installed. It says that certain services have failed to start, but they are all up an running fine. I used the SuSE .config ( cp /proc/config.gz /usr/src/linux-2.6.0-test11; cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.0-test11;gzip -d config.gz;mv config .config; make xconfig). You have to make a selection for console on a VT to get the usual startup messages .... CONFIG_VT=y CONFIG_VT_CONSOLE=y Then it's a normal kernel build from there on. barrabas:/ftp/dec03 # uname -a Linux barrabas 2.6.0-test11 #2 Fri Nov 28 16:42:22 GMT 2003 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ....
