Is there a way to specify a resolution for the laptop display that is different from the external display so that when you cycle through the displays from internal/both/external the correct settings are used? On another point, can the external display be driven at a different refresh rate that the internal? -ronc On Friday 03 August 2001 03:29, Jaakko Tamminen wrote:
Hello
I have had the same problem. The fix was easy for me.
When switching to X, the projector goes blank, but the LCD on laptop is working, just press the "func-F5" keypair.. Maybe You need to press the F5 twice or 3 times.. In my laptop (HP Omnibook) the cycle was: - initial only LCD - 1st press, both LCD and external working (maximum 800x600) - 2nd press, only external (and I could use bigger resolution than with LCD) - 3rd press, only LCD again...
You might have a different ones for switching the display. The keys are usually marked with blue text.. The func-key is normally beside the CTRL or ALT key on the left side of the keyboard, and the monitor-switch key has usually blue screen-kind of picture in it.
That will bring up the projector. I tried to play around with settings in Linux, but was not able to make it automatic..
One annoying thing was the resolution.. When LCD was on, there was no way to get more then 800x600 to the external display... Luckilly with the external-only I could use 1024x768.

When connecting my laptop to a projector all works fine when working off the command prompt. As soon as I start X the projector no longer displays what is on the screen. Any ideas on how to resolve this (if possible)?
