Hi all,
Just a quick follow-up to my kernel 2.4.17 story from yesterday...
I perservered with the new kernel image despite problems with sound and apparent problems with NFS. However, sound was fixed after I ran alsaconf as root, and set up the ESS Maestro 2E sound card in my laptop.
The NFS problems appear to be a setup issue as well - I'm looking into it a little more today.
On the PCMCIA/wireless side of things, the Orinoco drivers are working well, so that is a plus. Interestingly, they don't seem to work any better than the wvlan driver did, though. I'll try to build the drivers that came with my Avaya card today and see what happens with those.
