After committing changes to a file with $Log$ in it, the next time I go to edit it emacs says the file has changed (which it has), but the pcl-cvs documentation says such file will be auto reverted after cvs has altered them during the commit operation.

I eventually found some postings pointing to incompatibilities between versions of cvs and pcl-cvs (aka pcvs). I've upgraded both cvs and emacs from their respective CVS sites and now all is working OK. It's a shame that SuSE would include incompatible versions of things like this in what should be a working system. Peter
