Is this a change in pppd reporting in SuSE 6.3 ?

No sure if it has changed or not. What it is though is the ppp daemon sending out debugging information. If you don't want to see it, or don't like it filling up your logs you can disable it. With any standard text editor (vi, emacs, pico, joe, ed) open up the file /etc/ppp/options Look for where it says "debug" and put a hash sign (#) in front of it, so that it will look like this #debug ave and close the file and you shouldn't since that extra information pppd is sending out. It might of just been disabled by default on older version of SuSE, I can't say. I know it didn't show up in SuSE 5.3, but that could of either been because pppd didn't support the debugging logs at the time, or SuSE decided not to enable it by default. Hope that helps, Jack
