I got the impression from this list that most people were very pleased with 8.0 installation. I know that so far as the basic installation went, mine was awesome. (Try installing Debian sometime if you want a contrast!) I'm having trouble with a PCMCIA network card on my laptop and SuSE 8, and some advanced topics like internet connection sharing and samba set-up that the free installation support doesn't cover has me stumped, but in my, albeit limited, experience SuSE 8.0 is the most painless linux installation in the history of linux. It will allow more Windows converts to easily partition their drive and give linux a try than any other linux distro has ever done before. (That's assuming they hear about how easy it is and are so inclined...) Dennis Tuchler wrote:
The large number of complaints about particular problems in 8.0 on listserv make me wonder whether there is doubt about the reliability of technical support at S.u.S.E.
Is there such doubt?
