OK I installed KDE running this command:
sudo zypper install -t pattern kde4 kde4_basis
and now when I log into KDE I don't get plasma workspace. All I get is a white desktop. No Panel nothing.
I can't say I'm surprised. At the very least I think you are lacking some repositories. (and hence many dependencies) I would have expected something like 20 or more packages to be installed to get a basic, functioning KDE4. How many were installed as a result of that command?
"Best Practice" is to have the right repositories!
If you use YAST you'll see that there are 'short cut' entries.
$ sudo yast2 -gtk sw_single
Then view -> patterns
You will see, if you have enough repositores configured (which have been discussed in other threads recently) items such as "KDE Base System" and "KDE Desktop Environment". You may also see, depending again on repositories, "KDE 4.7 Base System" and "KDE 4.7 Desktop Environment".
I don't see KDE Desktop Environment when I search Yast. When I installed KDE it was something around 300MB of packages. Swapnil -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
