I took to heart the encouragement of several folks here and installed KDE 2.1.1. I haven't yet seen any screens that ask me about anti-aliasing, so I guess I'll deal with that issue later on. Generally KDE 2.1.1 seems to be working just fine for me. But I have observed one annoying oddity. In my .Xdefaults file I have these lines (which I've had for a couple of years): Emacs.font: 6x13 Emacs.geometry: 89x68-16+26 Emacs.background: seashell1 Emacs.bitmapIcon: off They've always given me an Emacs window with a uniform seashell1 background. But since starting with KDE 2.1.1, the background of text characters is white, not seashell1. In other words, on those portions of the screen where text is displayed, the background is white; but on the other parts of the screen the background is seashell1 as it should be. Anyone know what might be going on? Paul Abrahams
