Hi folks, I had some problems updating a 10.3 system to 11.0.
The upgrade did not find any root partition. Then I did a show all partitions and selected the right partion. Then I got an error which redirected me to "support.novell.com/techcenter/sdb/en/03/fhassel_update_not_possible.html" The only correct hint in this story was "a possible error in fstab" After some useless exercises I decided to do for test a new install. he instal was without any problems. Then I copied the 11.0 fstab to the old system. The the update ran without any problem.
After examining the both fstabs, the only difference I found was: In the bad one where TAB's used in the records. In the correct one where spaces used in the records.
I hope that this story is usefull, Hans
It certainly will or might have been to me. Very nice catch. Thanks for the heads up. -- Brian K.
