What someone needs to do is write a boilerplate explanation of thread hijacking that would be sent to people like me. It ought to be polite and helpful, and it should have a lot of detail. For example it needs to spell out that threading is done not by the Subject header but by invisible headers that mysteriously keep track of threads and that are an established internet standard (in spite of the awkward fact, according to Mr. Mahlmoud, that the SuSE system threads on Subject ... never mind). Perhaps the policepersons on this list could assign the boilerplate to a function key so that it would be easy to enlighten the puzzled. ----snap ----
Henry--- When I first started studying about Linux, I learned about the "itch" theory--- Now, that you understand all there is to know about "high jacking" threads, and you have an itch about "politeness" it would be nice if you would write such boilerplate as you described. If you did, I am sure that several of us would be send it off to the new souls who "just joined the list" Peace ~Gar PS --- i too was guilty of highjacking a thread and it was called to my attention --- so i have a rough idea where you are coming from. PPS. You also realize that SuSE provides the webspace, but doesn't monitor this list --- and that's OK. -- Mark Twain: "Sorry I wrote such a long email; I didn't have time to write a short one." __________________________________________________________________ Try AOL and get 1045 hours FREE for 45 days! http://free.aol.com/tryaolfree/index.adp?375380 Get AOL Instant Messenger 5.1 free of charge.
