Hello, SuSE-7.2 ==> SuSE-7.3 HP scanner ScanJet 6200C (Usb) No problems with SuSE-7.2 - worked allright SuSE-7.3: I have portable:/home/alain # scanimage --list-devices No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages). The configuration is the same!!! ====== vi /etc/sane.d:hp.config (same file as in SuSE-7.2) scsi HP /dev/scanner /dev/usbscanner option connect-device ====== less /proc/bus/usb/devices T: Bus=01 Lev=00 Prnt=00 Port=00 Cnt=00 Dev#= 1 Spd=12 MxCh= 2 B: Alloc= 11/900 us ( 1%), #Int= 1, #Iso= 0 D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=0000 ProdID=0000 Rev= 0.00 S: Product=USB UHCI-alt Root Hub S: SerialNumber=dce0 C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=40 MxPwr= 0mA I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=hub E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) A deficient Sane package with SuSE-7.3????? ============== Another question: did anybody succeed in installing/compiling the Sane tarballs on SuSE-7.3 - I did not succeed I would like to have the drivers for Canoscan scanner and it is only available on the last Sane version Where would you suggest to install sane-backend and sane-frontend. I did it in /usr/local then cd dir then ./configure make - make - install but nothing happened and the sane drivers are not even installed in /etc/sane.d Are there parameters to add for ./configure with sane-backend and sane-frontend for specific use in SuSE-Linux Should you advice installation in another directory? -- Alain Barthélemy cassandre@gminformatique.com bartydeux@gminformatique.com http://bartydeux.gminformatique.com
