I agree, Novell has been odd about the NCL (i have been thinking that maybe people are doing what the client does some other way). But, i did get mine to work....I had to disable compiz and now everything works. I do want to be able to use compiz and the novell client. Someone, please tell me this is possible and how.
OK, so when i try to run compiz, i get: compiz: Trying '/usr/$LIB/libIndirectGL.so.1' compiz (core) - Fatal: No composite extension * Reloading compiz ... executing: compiz --replace --sm-disable --ignore-desktop-hints ccp compiz: Trying '/usr/$LIB/libIndirectGL.so.1' compiz (core) - Fatal: No composite extension
Odd but true: delete /usr/$LIB/libIndirectGL.so.1. $LIB is either lib (on my system) or lib64? Then compiz will start. The mystery I have is why this file (a link) keeps coming back after reboots. Some entity want to keep remaking this link. This solves the issue above. I do not know about the issue below. Maybe they follow after the error above? Please ignore this rant: I suspect it is a problem because I have some incorrect mixture of Xgl and the nvidia driver. The descriptions I have seen thus far of the interaction between the two leave me less than informed. Developers have spent a zillion hours getting all this to work, but have dropped the ball in describing the great thing they have done in language understood by the great unwashed masses. Too many 2 or 3 letter abbreviations are used that assume one spends time working with X graphics.
I can enable xgl without any errors but when running compiz-manager & i get: compiz-manager & [3] 6363 ELECTRICHENDRIX\carnold@Izabella:~> Checking for Xgl: not present. Detected PCI ID for VGA: 01:00.0 Class 0300: 10de:0221 (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA]) Checking for texture_from_pixmap: present. Checking for non power of two support: present. Checking for Composite extension: not present. aborting and using fallback: /usr/bin/metacity Window manager warning: Failed to load theme "Gilouche": Failed to find a valid file for theme Gilouche
and when running compiz --replace ccp & i get: [4] 6412 ELECTRICHENDRIX\carnold@Izabella:~> compiz: Trying '/usr/$LIB/libIndirectGL.so.1' compiz (core) - Fatal: No composite extension
and when running fusion-icon & i get: [4] 6419 ELECTRICHENDRIX\carnold@Izabella:~> * Detected Session: kde * Searching for installed applications... * NVIDIA on Xorg detected, exporting: __GL_YIELD=NOTHING * Using the GTK Interface * Starting Compiz ... executing: compiz --replace --sm-disable --ignore-desktop-hints ccp compiz: Trying '/usr/$LIB/libIndirectGL.so.1' compiz (core) - Fatal: No composite extension
So how do i get novell client and compiz to play nicely with each other?
