Tried booting with options "plymouth.enable=0 splash=verbose intel_idle.max_cstate=7", no impact on black screen. If you can do this ^, your system did not "books immediately to a completely black screen".
That is GRUB, not the OS.
Please better describe what you see as we cannot see your screen(). Did you try additionally adding "nomodeset" to the kernel boot line?
Adding "nomodeset" does avoid the black-screen. Now it is left sitting at "Loading initial ramdisk..." from which it never proceeds using the 4.5.0-4.gece3ff2-default kernel.
The 4.2.1 kernel books without issue - except, of course, the touchpad does not work.
On my Asus it worked with the 4.5.0-3 kernel. But since I updated to 4.5.0-4 I was not able to get it to work, not even after a complete new, clean install of leap and then only installing the new kernel. So I personally gave it up and stay with the original leap-kernel and its future updates. But maybe somebody else can lead you further...
