Why not openSuSE? Not that this situation will be encountered very often, but it does violate Wolfgang's Principle of Least Astonishment. I think it would be a clever thing to do - I don't know how often it's going to be really useful, but still. I haven't thought about this very hard but what is the effect if I simply unplug a network cable and then plug it back in again? I would hope no effect - it should be completely transparent to any applications with TCP connections in progress.
It should be transparent even if a DHCP request happens. The request will include the previous address and the DHCP server is supposed to give out the requested address if available. In fact, in normal operation, there should be DHCP requests part way through the lease time, so that the lease is renewed long before it expires -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
