I quickly abandoned downloading the 7.3 distribution
to disk because of the huge volume it eats up on HD.
I assume you tried to download the entire distribution
as a tar file. It seams downloading as a tar file is
not smart enough to *not* resolve links! On the ftp
server there are entire directories and RMP packages
that are links to other files/directories, but during
ftp these are resolved and re-ftped all over again.
This is very wasteful.
Guys, any way to get ftp to *not* resolve links?

Hi,
I'm downloaded the last version of SuSE 7.3 on a french FTP site and I have now two questions :
- first, I'm surprising but the entire distribution take a 11,6 Go on hard drive !! I want to record this distribution on CD or DVD but I don't know how to separate the packages ?.. Have you got an idea please ?
- in second, what's the difference between the "full-names" directory and the "suse" directory ?
Thank's a lot for your answers
