I have a Intel PRO 100 and when I run mii-tool I get the following error: mii-tool SIOCGMIIPHY on 'eth0' failed: Operation not supported no MII interfaces found I ran the tool on a different machine and that came back with information but the card is a 3Com 3c59x/3c9xx ethernet driver mii-tool eth0: negotiated 100baseTx-FD flow-control, link ok Any ideas on this one? From my experiences... it depends on the NIC and the driver. If you do a "modinfo <driver name>" you should get back a dump of the options you can set on the driver. Many, like the Intel can force full duplex, etc. I think you may be able to do this with the MII tools, if the card supports the API.
if it supports it: mii-tool -F 100baseTx-FD eth0 and ofcourse you could put this somewhere so it'll stick after reboot ;-)
