I am rapidly running out of blank CD's and I have run out of patience.
I have been trying to burn an iso image of the Vigyaan bio/chemical software workbench and is designed to be a bootable iso image based on Knoppix v3.7 (www.vigyaancd.org/index.html). I now that it works because I have the earlier version on a bootable CD.
I have tried both K3b and the gnome CD/DVD Creator. The both have written the iso numerous times, but when I attempt to boot the machine (which is set to boot from the CD as the first boot device. I also recently upgraded SuSE .0 to 9.3 booting form CD's with no problems) the boot process says Booting form CD and the goes on to grub and the normal linux boot.
Finally, out of desperation, and a web search, I ran cdrecord for the command line. Here is the dialog:
Are you sure the iso image is OK? Md5 sum check ok? How about trying to burn it at a slower speed. Just because the system will do it at 40x, doesn't mean it will always work. I've found that even though the drive and media are rated at 40x, seldom does it work well. I rarely go over 24x for burning iso images.
