This is probably a dumb question, but have you tried uninstalling what YaST2 has in the soundcard part, and then clicking on the 'add' button, and starting it anew? I've got onboard sound on my system too, and I'm gonna see if YaST2 will make it work (I hope this will create a second 'modules.conf for it! LOL).
