Did you connect the MS mouse directly to the computer or to your switch? Because of variations in mice, OSes and systems; when run

the mouse is not recognized properly, so even when manually configured the proper driver is not used causing lost functionality. I use a Linksys KVM switch for keyboard and monitor only and use a direct connect mouse on each system. Using this method I have encountered no problems with mouse usage on any OS running on either system.

The MS mouse was connected directly to the switch. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried connecting it directly to the computer and things seemed to be better. I play with kalendar for a bit but when I enlarged the window I lost the mouse and the kb. That's three times in a row now that the crash has occurred when I enlarge a window.
I'll try reinstalling with the mouse connected directly. Did you make any changes to BIOS settings? Is your USB IRQ set to enable or disable?
Jack Other than setting PnP OS to disabled I made no changes to my BIOS and I have USB enabled with an assigned IRQ. When /if you reinstall try setting up your mouse as a straight generic PS/2 mouse and you might also want to test with the keyboard directly connected. Charles (-: Forever never goes beyond tomorrow.
