Its more complex than that. SuSE people explained in detail at the time why they were no longer pushing reiserfs as default at install time.
True, but I was only addressing why they chose to focus on Ext2/3 instead of XFS (or JFS or insert favorite) once they made the decision to switch away from Reiser.
