If /dev/hda6 is the first partition (it can end up that way), then maybe you should put the suse kernels there, and change it's boot to /dev/hda6.
How do you mean 'first'? hda6 is an extended partition...
Well if you installed a system, and had all the primary partitions created, and you wanted to make some space at the "front" of the disk; it could happen, I've done it myself. If you resize /dev/hda1 to create empty space at the front, then go to create a new partition, and all you have left are extended types, then fdisk will create /dev/hda6 at the front of the disk. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
