I have a KT7A with an Athlon 1100 chip. It has performed quite well. I use W2k on it now, but I did install SuSE 7.2 for a while with no problems.
Unless I overclock my 1100, I'm only running my 133 RAM at 100, but it's still a very fast computer.
TYAN also makes a new $220 MP motherboard (not the $400+ server board with built in RAID). The AMD chips are so cheap that it's real hard not to consider the MP version.
Is that the Tyan Tiger? Two processor, memory and motherboard around £500. I think my bank manager (wife) won't let me indulge myself that much! ;-)
FWIW I've always heard spotty and troublesome things about the RAID version of this board, so beware.
I'm not going to bother with IDE-RAID - I like my two SCSI drives much
better. The Abit KG7, 512MB PC2100 registered RAM and a 1.33GHz Athlon XP for
under £300 looks like a good deal to me.
