CUPS and printing japanese characters

Hello List, I'm currently having a little bit of trouble getting Japanese characters to print. I can display the characters fine on screen, but when I go to print them, I either get the character codes, or I get blank squares on the print-out. I'm using CUPS to print to an HP LaserJet 4100tn. I have all the fonts installed, but for some reason CUPS won't print them.
