Hi, I recently updated a SuSE 9.1 machine to 9.2. It's patched with all the latest updates as of today. I have just discovered that, since the update to 9.2, I can no longer print to KPrinter from OpenOffice. The only available option is 'lp', my local printer. How do I add KPrinter to the list? There seems to be no way to do so, in 'Print ...', 'Printer Settings ...' or 'Tools -> Options -> OpenOffice.org -> Print'. Apart from all the other good things that KPrinter allows, I need to use it to print reasonably sized PDFs. A recent example one-page document comes out at 17K when printed using KPrinter's print-to-PDF ... with OpenOffice.org's PDF export the same file is 350K! Looking at them both in acroread shows no apparent difference on the screen. This is a showstopper for me. Is this just a ruse to try to make people switch to KOffice (which, incidentally, cannot render the simple 1-page .sxw document in question - it misses the embedded spreadsheet component)? ;) So, why has KPrinter been removed for 9.2, and how can I put it back? At the moment, OpenOffice seems to be restricted to viewing only the CUPS printers, with no way to add new printers any more! This is surely completely broken behaviour. -- Bill Gallafent.
