I'm using SuSE 8.2 and I am trying to configure the StarWars screensaver. I'm positive there is a way to change where it gets the text to display or to change the settings for the fortune cookie program, but just can't find it. Practically none of the screensavers have a setup dialog, and I've found XML files for them all in "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xscreensaver/config", except that in "starwars.xml" there's no mention or indication that it uses "fortune" for the text. Any help appreciated.
Try using xscreensaver-demo, which will bring up the xscreensaver preferences dialog. User settings are kept in ~/.xscreensaver.
That's better - I can configure the screensavers now, but I still can't use these settings. I can't disable Kscreensaver and use xscreensaver in it's place, so any changes I make aren't reflected. I'm using KDE3 and the Control Center doesn't have a "Look & Feel" entry - it has "Appearance & Themes" and no checkbox anywhere to disable Kscreensavers. Thanks. -- Geraint Jones
