These tools should disable the blanking while they run. If they don't, and it is not configurable, report the bug.

I know how to disable power-off of the monitor, ie, dpms. It is an option in the xorg file.
I have not tried jet but I think you could try to de-install the programs for power management (or install an other program for that).
