can xcdroast be used to convert audio cd into mp3?
I sincerely doubt it. It's also not the right tool to use. GRIP is a nice GTK app to use (it's probably on the SuSE CDs) for this sort of thing. If you want to get technical, I recommend you use 'cdparanoia' for ripping, and the LAME encoder for encoding the resulting WAVs/AUs/etc. into MP3s. I also recommend you try out the Ogg Vorbis format [http://www.vorbis.com]. It'll give you the same sound quality as MP3 with 30% less bits, along with all the other advantages (e.g., no patents, flexible tagging, eventual bitrate peeling, etc.). After discovering this format, I now use it exclusively and have never given MP3 another thought. -- Karol Pietrzak PGP KeyID: 3A1446A0
