I'm not sure, but at least all Pentium Pro, -II, -III and -4 models.
Linux supports this only if your kernel supports it. Perhaps you will need to rebuild your kernel.
I believe the SUSE kernel-bigsmp has PAE enabled.
But this is not recommended because there is huge performance penalty from using over 4GB of RAM on 32-bit systems. (enabling PAE) - better way is to use AMD64 instructions.
But is that an alternative on all Intel 32bit systems? I don't know about the performance penalties, but the big hardware manufacturers have all been building machines with room for 8-16-32Gb - quite possibly even up to the full 64Gb. Maybe that was mostly for marketing, but still. Do you have any more info on the performance penalties related to using PAE? /Per Jessen, Zürich -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
