I've removed the RPMs for gphoto2 and compiled the sources, now YAST keeps wanting to install the old libgphoto RPM (even tho I don't need it). This appears to be an issue related to SuSE 8.1 specifically. In my case, it manifests itself by YaST2 re-installing the version of Mozilla that originally came with the distribution and removing Mozilla 1.3, even though I have upgraded to 1.3 using the official RPM package provided by SuSE.
I have as a result of this, as it is so inconvenient, stopped installing packages from the SuSE 8.1 CD and now attempt to source programs elsewhere, which rather defeats the object of YaST2 and the SuSE software management system a little.
Hi guys-- The four of us have similar problem with KDE 3.1.2 rpm's and yast2 on the 8.1 system. I have been reading a long thread Re. 8.2: << "[SLE] Help! I'm stuck in YaST and I can't get out!" which wasstarted by Steven Hatton last Thursday which one poster said a change in qt3 solved the problem -- maybe it does in 8.2 but to me the problem seems to be in the yast gui -- i can't figure how to "turn off" the check mark's related to old rpms -- I think that is where the problem comes from -- but I am just guessing -- it the meantime I too am downloading off an ftp site rather than using my CD's -- oh well Gar __________________________________________________________________ McAfee VirusScan Online from the Netscape Network.
