What I'm looking for is an editor with syntax highlighting that can be changed based upon the type of document being edited, that has the features of macros, recording common keystroke patterns, and various such configurations. Thanks for any responses.
I personally love nEdit (www.nedit.org). It's very easy to install and has great syntax highlighting for a ton of languages. The syntax highlighting has very advanced configuration if needed, but for the most part it works great right out of the tarball. All of your requirements listed above are covered. Josh
