I believe I used this url as a starting point when I researched the subject: http://www.linuxmafia.com/faq/Hardware/sata.html Thanks for this EXCELLENT link. Up-to-date information on which chipsets are supported by which kernels/drivers!
This link lists the Silicon Image 3114 with a significant "lba48" issue. Given that I've experience occasional freezing on a system (Tyan S2882) using a 250MB SATA drive, would this likely be the cause? Also, is there a mailing list where I can monitor discussions concerning this issue? Thanks! Tony
