See the Linux section in particular but the whole site is worth some time spent reading through the info.
I am scheduled to get it next week. I was originally perturbed that I could not get the "FREE" setup without having a Windows USB capable platform (OS/2, SuSE and at that time WinNT). I could not see paying $199US to have someone setup something I could indeed do for myself. I am a computer professional, after all. <vbg> So I said, "what the frell" and signed up anyway. I will deal with it when I get the setup package.
I went through this as well. I know many people at my job that did not do this, and ended with a PCI card that will not work at all with linux. I had DSL when it first came out with Bellsouth, and all they issued were the 10BaseT DSL modems. When I moved there were a lot more choices, but I knew which model I needed so I paid the $199 to get what I wanted. No problems at all with linux.
I am used to the "we don't support blahblahblah" so this is to be expected. We don't have to like it; that is just the way the world works. Bottom line is it just is too expensive for most of these SPs to support Linux, OS/2 and even MACs. Now I just need to get re-employed to pay for the damn thing.
You can also check out the BellSouth newsgroups, but they are a very whiny bunch. I don't suffer NGs very well I guess!

[Okay , getting completely and thoroughly discusted w/ verio , we have [gone so far as to contact bellSouth .. who , of course , tell us, they ["do not support linux" and wont even send us the modem unless we have [windows something on the box.. <heavy sigh> I still have a windows [partition I can fudge a bit for purposes of this experiment <g> tho [husband is seriously worried that w/o support we wont be able to use it [.. I can't imagine why, if anyone did support an OS I was currently [using , I'd have to see what was further out on the bleeding edge<g>
[Anyway, any users of Bell South in particular , or DSL generally care [to share ? headaches , heartbreaks , willingness to suggest answers to [tech support type questions .. ??? Especially if you might be willing [to take this off list for private discussions, and electronic [handholding and "there , there , type soothing noises for Gil ( that's [the spouse <g>)
