Known kernel problem (USB stuff in kernel). A kernel update (for Suse Linux 9.1) may help, on http://www.novell.com/de-de/linux/download/updates/91_i386.html the latest is kernel-default 2.6.5-7.147 But we have reports that it may not help in any case.
