Believe he means in konsole. What kind of laptop, what video drivers, what versions? I've got a Dell Studio 1745 which makes those changes okay.

Ah yes, sorry. It is konsole. My laptop is a Dell Latitude D820, with a 1920x1200 res monitor, which is why things show up so small by default. In the configuration settings for KDE I set the fonts for all GUI apps to be larger so that I can see them. However on the terminal side of konsole I can't adjust anything.
George, Are you trying to change the profile as ordinary user or as root? Are you trying to change one of the default profiles? Trying to change one of the default profiles as an ordinary user doesn't work because they are owned by root and not writable for ordinary users. These profiles are stored in directory "/usr/share/kde4/apps/konsole". For an ordinary user, the best option is to create a new profile and change that.
