In 6.3, I'm having a problem running the "kernel" script located in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/susewm/startcmd. I used this in 6.2, and it worked just fine, but now that I installed 6.3, it has the following error:

anyone have any ideas? I'd really appreciate it.
Presuming that your home is /home/jbauer and that you run bash:
DISPLAY=:0 XAUTHORITY=/home/jbauer/.Xauthority export DISPLAY XAUTHORITY
Then proceed with make xconfig. 2 caveats, your home must be local and you must use xauth for authorization, both are likely to be true.
I'm getting this exact same error except for the display name on this end comes out as my hostname. The command I'm executing is "susewmif kernel en", which ends up calling the above mentioned script. I never have or had a problem using "make xconfig". that works OK and without any modifications the above DISPLAY and XAUTHORITY variables are set as mentioned above. As the original author of this problem states, 6.2 worked ok, 6.3 doesn't. Anyone????????
