Dowload the kernel source from the ftp site:
/pub/people/mantel
You can then use a util called make cloneconfig to clone your running kernel and it will prompt you for the new stuff. You can't clone a 2.2 kernel to a 2.4 kernel, but if you load the 2.4 kernel off 7.1 you can clone that.
cloneconfig is SuSE specific..it's a nice little feature.
