* Thinker (thinker@thoughtprogress.com) [030802 21:19]:
I have been trying to install Netscape (following the instructions). When I type ./netscape-installer form the installation directory (as the instructions, um, instruct) I get the following message.
Xlib:connection to ":0.1" refused by server Xlib: Invalid XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 key (failed by comparison)
Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.1
What does this mean and how do I fix it. I have installed netscape before (on Mandrake 9.0) using this method, and I have never seen this error before. What do I need to do to fix this.
The error is because you su'ed to root in an xterm but the X session is owned by you..the user. :) If you want to install things like this ...then do this. 1. open xterm 2. type sux 3. type root passwd 4. install the program Cheers! :) -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.
