can xcdroast be used to convert audio cd into mp3?
No. Xcdroast is a GUI for burning CDs, not ripping. You actually need two programs for ripping. The first is cdparanoia which copies the data to disk as a wav, then you need an encoder to convert it to mp3. There are many mp3 encoders, such as lame, but you'll have to download the source and compile it yourself. You could choose to encode to ogg format using oggenc which is included on the SuSE CDs. A nice GUI that do it in one step is grip. You can also use Konqueror! Check the SuSE manual. Best Regards, Keith -- LPIC-2, MSCE, N+ I can C for miles and miles Got spam?
