I have this and a similar problem: Magazines and downloads like this offer lots of software, but most of it is for 32 bit Linux. I know that and AMD64 will run 32 bit Linux and software, but I have my doubts about Linux64 running 'normal' 32 bit software binaries on an AMD64.
I have the pleasure of being able to access a variety of 64bit linux boxes at work (and at home) and they all run 32bit linux applications just fine. The only problem may arise from code that has a broken architecture check (like some installers, and mainwin) which you can bypass by running them under the linux32 kernel personality (i.e. intead of typing % 32bitlinuxapp arg1 arg2 --flag arg3 you type % linux32 32bitlinuxapp arg1 arg2 --flag arg3 ) Kind regards, -- Gerhard den Hollander Phone :+31-10.280.1515 Global ICT manager Direct:+31-10.280.1539 Fugro-Jason Fax :+31-10.280.1511 gdenhollander@Fugro-Jason.com POBox 1573 visit us at http://www.Fugro-Jason.com 3000 BN Rotterdam JASON.......#1 in Reservoir Characterization The Netherlands This e-mail and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the addressee.
