Y'know what would be a nice, helpful step for SuSE to take? Getting rid of the need for pen and paper. What do I mean? Well, every time I do a SuSE install, there are usually a bunch of packages that say things like: "Later, you should edit the file xxxx and add the line yyyyyyy after the line zzzz, to activate this application." I see that sort of message in the middle of a YaST2 install, with no convenient way to record it. Later on, I'll need to remember to do whatever it said, so I write it on a piece of paper. (So far, I have not found a way to copy the text and then paste it in a console...) Oh, sure, when the install is done, I can probably go find a log file and look through thousands of lines for those instructions (remember, I'm installing 1800 ... or is it 2300, now?? packages, so there'll be lots and lots of log text to wade through). Why could a YaST module not collect all those "configure/edit this later" instructions into one file and dump it onto the desktop with an eye-catching filename, so that it would be: a) a prominent reminder of the various configuration steps remaining, and b) have them all together in one convenient place?? Or, just keep them in YaST2 for the next time you run it. "BLOOP! You have some manual configuration to do. Open an editor?" Yes, there are probably dozens of technical reasons for not doing it. I don't know them. /kevin
