Thanks very much for your reply. The sofware I am trying to compile is this: https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qtspeech-hello-speak-example.html
1) libqt5-qtspeech-devel is available in the official 15.3 repos and I installed it. 2) libqt5-qtspeech-plugin-speechd is not in the official repos. Really?

libqt5-qtspeech-plugin-speechd-32bit is available for 15.3 in the official repos and I installed it. But I still can not run the hello_speak program.
I found 2 packages in the opensuse software search webpage:
 a) libqt5-qtspeech-plugin-speechd is listed with 15.2, 15.3 and TW packages. However, when I go to that package page and hit the “expert download†for the 15.3 package only a 15.2 package is available. The one click install option leads to 10 repositories to be installed and when agreeing to it, a complex error message results.
 b) libqt5-qtspeech-plugin-speechd-64bit: there is 15.2 but not 15.3  nor TW package.
Any further help is appreciated, Gustav

Thanks. Thanks. You are right, I don't know how I messed that up. I found it and installed it. And I found some other qt software also. I installed "libqt5-qtspeech-examples". I searched with yast sofware management for and found the "hello_speak" which is the command I need to run for the program I was trying to compile before. But when I run "hello_speak" as user or root, I only get "cnf". I looked on google for hello_speak, but nothing much is relevant. Any further help is appreciated, Gustav
