Somewhere in the installation and/or setup is the choice to select the paper size, i.e., European or American. Look in the administration guide on page 111 "Specifying Options for Queues" to see what you have set up. If you are in the US, you probably want "letter" as I think that A4 is European. (European is a longer, narrower page.) I have an HP Laserjet, model 2200D, which prints perfectly to letter-size (8-1/2" x 11") paper. BTW, in the User Guide, on page 79, is a reference to "http://portal.suse...bugs91.html" but it seems to be a bug itself, as when I try to go there, after logging on I get a message, in German, that says Error 404, this page does not exist. --doug On Monday 28 June 2004 14:08, Donald D Henson wrote:
(SuSE 9.1, Gnome 2.4, printer=HP-6122)
When using my previous printer (HP-2000C), I had to adjust the page margins to make stuff print in the correct location on the paper. In general, it looked as if the printer driver was moving the print area down by 0.75 inches. If I changed the margins in the application by making the top margin 0.25 inches and the bottom margin 1.75 inches, everything printed in the correct locations. I looked for places to adjust this, searched the online KDE Help system, did a Google search, etc. Nothing turned up. (This problem exists on at least three applications: OOo-writer, OOo-calc, and galeon.) I finally decided that my printer was the cause as it was doing strange things when printing. I ordered a new printer (HP-6122). It prints beautifully but it has the same problem as the old printer. I surmise from all this that there is a setting somewhere that will allow me to adjust the page margins. Based on what I've written here, can anyone point me is a productive direction? I would be eternally grateful and may even give you my firstborn. :-)
