Hey Group:
On my passed 8.0 version of SuSE I was told by this list to remove the DB created by hwinfo. Then I was instructed to rebuild it by simply running "hwinfo". It worked and was a good way to clear stored devices which have removed from showing up when typing EX. "hwinfo --cdrom".
The behavior of "hwinfo" and the location of it's DB have changed in 8.2. SuSE 8.2 - /var/lib/hardware/unique-keys. It seems that the DB will not be rebuilt unless I reboot and "Starting hardware scan" (as I remember) does so.
I think 'hwbootscan' is what you're looking for. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+23ww+FOexA3koIgRApLZAJ9Lg2QKfnyNF/7RsO4bwyps7X93vwCeI/43 WDOdrUAuFXk6kcAdEgKc3Rk= =D7+B -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
