Well, I've haven't been a fan of Gnome for a while now. But that withstanding the service you and your employer have provided is testimony to the nature of OSS and Linux. That said I think this is a call to action for all those that benefited from your service. I for one am not presently in a position to help you right now. But, with those on the list, their personal/professional contacts and relationships should be utilized if possible to help get ULB to a place that it can thrive.
Well, guys - List members! Any takers, comments, suggestions?
It's already mirrored for a long time at ftp://ftp.gwdg.de! The rpms of the previous SuSE versions are still being offered at gwdg. See ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE/8.0-i386/RPMS.usr-local-bin/ ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE/8.1-i386/RPMS.usr-local-bin/ ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE/8.2-i386/RPMS.usr-local-bin/
gwdg.de is accessible via rsync, so it is very easy to mirror.
My suggestion is to contact the ftp administrator of gwdg.de and obtain a login, and store the rpms over there.
I was about to suggest the same - as gwdg.de is already mirroring the
stuff anyway, why not simply putting the files there by default?
Additionally, you could change the links on your web pages to link to
gwdg.de directly - this would most likely reduce your site traffic a lot.
I am getting the same problem here - my little site currently runs on my
home box (which is not always online) - if two or three people download
packages in parallel, my uplink is saturated.
Bye,
LenZ
