Actually we got the memory requirement pretty low for 11.0 & 11.1. I think you could run an installation with somewhat less than 256 MB without swap.
It is not exactly clear why 11.2 needs noticably more memory. IIRC not even 512 MB are enough in some cases.
I've done 11.2 installations with 128Mb + swap.
It is extremely time consuming to keep that growth to a minimum and frankly I don't see the need for that in a mainstream distribution.

Per, How did you manage to install into 128 MB of RAM? Just curious... Because if I remember correctly the installer quits if you have less than 512 MB.
