I don't know if you've got this sorted yet, but I'll give you a hint anyway. Des Aubery wrote:
I am struggling to work out how to integrate an external HP820 series PCMCIA SCSI CD-RW permanently into my laptop configuration - on SuSE 7.0.
The correct drivers are loaded at boot time - PCMCIA, and nin-cs (I guess this is correct, as it works).
I am able to communicate with it by using YAST - user administration - integrate CD-ROM at /dev/scd0.
This process is a hack, as I then have to re-integrate my internal CD-rom (/dev/hdc) when I am finished reading the CD-RW.
Can someone advise me on how to set up the correct configuration files in order for me to be able to simply mount this drive.
First of all, create a mountpoint at, say, /cdrw. Next you need to edit the file /etc/fstab. Find the line for your CD-ROM, then create a new line which is virtually identical to the previous one, but change the device to /dev/scd0 and the mountpoint to /cdrw (or whatever you chose). Here are the relevant lines from my /etc/fstab (both my CD drives are SCSI): /dev/scd0 /cdrom iso9660 ro,noauto, user 0 0 /dev/scd1 /cdrw iso9660 ro,noauto, user 0 0 Hope that helps, Chris -- __ _ -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Chris Reeves /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ICQ# 22219005 _\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
