Hmm. Just be thankful you don't have an Athlon64, running 64bit SuSE. ATI are so far behind the game for their Linux drivers it's unreal. Does anyone have any hint of when they might see fit to release their next version of the Linux driver (which apparently will include 64 bit support)? Why would you want to install the ATI driver? The 9200 is well supported using the radeon module in the kernel and with sax2. You also may want to update to the X.org drivers from SuSE's mirrors, if you are still running XFree86 files. Don't forget to update your sax2 files as well. Those will be needed to get the best setup from your new Xorg files. All those should be located close to where you got the ATI drivers.
I'm running the 9200 myself and everything sets up nicely without the ATI drivers installed.
Have you tried some of the OpenGL screensavers? Specifically Euphoria. Mine is very jumpy without the ATI drivers from SUSE. I just wish they would update their packages for 9.2 Mike -- Powered by SuSE 9.2 Kernel 2.6.8 KDE 3.3.0 Kmail 1.7.1 For Mondo/Mindi backup support go to http://www.mikenjane.net/~mike 4:14pm up 22:29, 4 users, load average: 2.68, 2.55, 2.41 -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
