Hi,
I just my hands on an Acer AspireOne. I've installed openSUSE 11.0 on it. All work well expect the wireless card. I've installed wifi ( its an Atheros card AR242x witch uses the ath5k kernel module ). The card appears as wlan0 and wmaster0. I try to connect it with NetworkManager but no luck it does not connect. Bellow is the NetworkManager log:
What I would suggest (my lappy uses the ar2* chip) is to use the ath_pci driver as opposed to the ath5k. The madwifi repo can be added to your install sources, or you can do what I did and dl the source and then compile and install the module yourself, recompiling and re-installing with each kernel update. ;)
I followed your advice. Thanks :)
Does anyone has any experience one this laptop or wireless card ?
Mine has not been too good with the ath5k driver, but I know from having had 10.3 on the same lappy that the ath_pci driver works for me.
I to have have a lot of trouble with this same wireless pci card in my Toshiba P205D in SuSE 10.3 I could not get it to work with any flavor of madwifi, ath5k or nswraper. In SuSE 11.0 nothing worked either, until now this version of Madwifi WORKS!!!!! Thanks a lot, my wife is so glad that I don't have a network cable strung across the kitchen into the living room and now I can even go out on my deck and browse. -- In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice; In practice, there is Robert Cunningham Sr. Physics Laboratory Coordinator /RSO -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
