UML is a notation for Object-Oriented analysis and design. It is
mostly graphical. You could use a draw (vector) program or pencil and
paper. Dia has some support it. ARGOuml is another UML drawing tool
with support for design decision making. There are demo versions of
commercial programs: Together/J, Together/C++, Rational Rose. The UML
spec on the UML site is too dense to be useful to learn from. If you
already know O-O, "UML Distilled" by Martin Fowler is good.

hi all,
As the subjekt says, what exactly is UML ?
Our professor brought it up and said "get into it". Well, I know it's short for Unified Modelling Lang. and that you can use it among other things to make flowcharts and Analytical Models. But does it get written in sorta a descriptive lang. like HTML or more like powerpoint presentation or something to that extent? some sort of a "Paint" programm, where the individual elements have to be drawn and then logically linked, !? Also, main Question, is there some sort of a programm that could be helpfull dealing with UML,
Also some links and docs would be Apreciated, since i did not realy find much on that. ok, i know there is www.omg.org, but it's a vast site and i dont even exactly know what i'm looking for ...
thanks already, Alex
