Thanks for the reply. I followed your suggestions and was able to remove the old installation and I did the new install (I only count 25 files: am I missing something?) Anyway, everything seemed to go as you described, including the error on wpo2000-minimal-dlx, but now there is no /usr/lib/corel/bin/setupWPO2000 file to edit. The only thing in the ...corel/bin directory is a subdirectory called per-user-setup whic has executable files Paradox and Presentations. Very strange! I'm really looking forward to getting this to work, and am going to send a copy of this to Gavriel State in case she has suggestions. What version of SuSE are you installing it on? I took me three tries. I run KDE and used Kpackage (the KDE rpm front end) while logged in as root.
Long shot: issue 'rpm --rebuilddb' to see if rpm can repair the db. If it does then use Kpackage to select the rpm files, under the Debian tree in the rpm db. The documentation tells you in what order to remove them if you do (redhat version instructions). If it can't then you will have to delete them manually. One way to do that is to load each rpm file into Kpackage and then click on the 'Files List' tab to see what directories the files for that rpm are in. Then run kfm and delete the directories shown in the Files List. Don't forget to use Ktop to kill fontfs (font server). THEN, rerun 'rpm -rebuilddb'.
Then You will have to install wpo2000 manually. Here is what worked for me:
1) Made sure I was totally cleaned from previous install attempts, and logged in as root.
2) Install the rpms in the sequence indicated by the setup_log left over from the failed second installation attempt. (I've attached my copy, modified to make the rpm files line up for easy reference. Just for grins I've also attached setupWPO2000 so you can see if your patch matched mine. )
3) Also Installed wpo2000-minimal-dlx as suggested by Avi Schwartz (the rpm script died with a "script error" message right after the gas gauge hit the end of the rpm install, but all files appeared to be installed)
It took about 30 minutes to install all 26 rpm files
4) Used KDE's Ktop to remove the fontfs that was left running, so I could unmount and remove the install cd #1.
5) Edited /usr/lib/corel/bin/setupWPO2000 as per Gavriel State's Instructions to remove the 'run-parts' reference and add the 'candidate' references. See attachment.
6) While in the /usr/lib/corel/bin directory I issued the command: ./setupWPO2000
The script ran for about 15 to 20 seconds and stopped. I thought it had failed. So I issued the command 'wordperfect' and a dialog came up saying I shouldn't run this script as root. I canceled and logged out of root and into my user account. There I opened an xterm and typed 'wordperfect'. A license agreement dialog came up and I accepted it. WordPerfect 9, and the rest of the apps, appear to run ok, even though the xterm shows various error msgs after i quit the apps. I created icons on my KDE desktop to run the apps without have to first open an xterm. (Use the script name for the name of the app to 'execute' and click on the 'Open in terminal' checkbox. Then choose some fancy icon. On the last tab, use wordperfect; for the name, put what you want for the descriptions, choose application/x-shellscript as the app type and click ok.
I found Gavriel State, a Corel techie, a VERY GOOD advisor. Her email address is: gavriels@corel.com
Good luck! I'm glad I persisted. It was worth it. Jerry

I just got WPO2000 yesterday, and in spite of reading previous posts here and on the corel list, I've not gotten it to work yet. My first attempt (I should have followed some of the hints!) was to just run the install program. It seemed to work, thought there were a few error messages. After applying the 'run-parts' patch, things sort of worked for a while (but only one application at a time), but something happened and now I get a page fault error on startup of any application, apparently as it's loading wine. I would like to delete everything (WPO that is) and start over, but when I try to use rpm -e to remove any of the packages it says its not loaded. rpm -q -a in fact lists all of the corel packages and if I try to install (rpm -i) one of them it says its already installed.
So the Corel install seems to have confused the rpm system and I can't see what to do next. I could just remove all the corel directories, but rpm would probably still think they were installed.
Any hints greatly appreciated!
